Football Team Field House SealBoss Grout Injection
Sam Houston State University authorized renovations to the Football team’s Field House and Locker Room area.
The scope included the installation of masonry walls and the capping of old Pipe Penetrations. The Contractor was asked to cut out the existing Pipe Penetrations and to fill them with a grout patch first, and then drill a ½” hole through the patch and inject behind the grout patch to ensure the cap was watertight.
The exact procedure was specified by the project engineer. The project contractor asked SealBoss for technical on the job assistance with the specified injection procedure.
In addition, other repair methods to seal off the Pipe Penetrations using SwellCaulk and Oakum were also covered during the training.
- Location: Sam Houston State University – Huntsville, Texas
Repair Method as Specified:
Once the grout patch was fully cured, the contractor drilled a ½” hole through the center of the grout and vacuumed any debris from the hole followed by flushing the hole using a water bottle with a hole in the lid to create a pressured stream. One the hole had been flushed out, the ½” SealBoss Evolution 13-100AL injection packer was installed.
The SealBoss P2002 pump was then used to pressure inject the SealBoss 1510 Water Stop Foam System into the cavity behind the patch to create an airtight and watertight plug that would stop any water from mitigating through the patch.
